THINKING ABOUT COACHING?
LET’S SEE IF IT’S THE RIGHT FIT
Most good decisions start small—sending a message, asking a question, taking that first step.
If you’re looking to build strength, move better, or simply feel better in your body, this is where it starts.
HERE’S WHAT A CONSULTATION LOOKS LIKE

2. You’ll get a feel for a private, focused training environment designed for real work—not distractions
3. I’ll walk you through how a structured, personalized approach helps you get stronger, move better, and stay consistent

FAQ - What You Can Expect From Training Here
What is LaPlant Fitness and how is it different from a typical gym?
LaPlant Fitness is a private, coaching-driven strength studio in Marin County built around one core idea: real strength creates real longevity. This is not a traditional gym, not a group fitness studio, and not a place where you disappear into the crowd. It is a boutique, appointment-only training environment designed for focused one-on-one coaching, intentional progression, and a level of individualized attention that simply is not possible in a crowded gym.
Who is Nick LaPlant?
Nick LaPlant is the owner and coach behind LaPlant Fitness. He has more than 15 years of experience helping athletes, professionals, and everyday adults move better, build strength, and maintain the physical capacity to live the lives they want now and long into the future. His background includes a B.S. in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from Humboldt State University, ACSM Health Fitness Specialist certification, CrossFit Level 1 Trainer certification, Certification in Athletic Nutrition from Humboldt State University, and CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid certification through the American Safety & Health Institute.
How do I get started with personal training at LaPlant Fitness?
Getting started is simple. Because LaPlant Fitness is a private, appointment-only studio with a limited client roster, all inquiries are handled directly and personally by Nick. Reach out by email at nick@laplant.fitness or call 415-722-7498 to start the conversation and learn more about working together.
What does training at LaPlant Fitness look like?
Training is built around a three-step process: assessment, creation, and execution. The assessment includes a look at your lifestyle, stress, sleep, nutrition, goals, and comprehensive fitness testing across the five areas of health-related fitness. From there, your program is created using a scientifically based, carefully considered plan tailored to your goals, schedule, and training needs. Execution is where the work happens. You show up, train with purpose, and continue evolving the plan as your needs change.
Are the workouts customized for each client?
Yes. Every training plan is designed for the individual. There are no random workouts, no cookie-cutter programming, and no trend-based classes. Nick builds each program around your current ability, goals, limitations, schedule, and long-term priorities so the training feels focused, effective, and sustainable.
What does it mean that LaPlant Fitness is built around strength and longevity?
At LaPlant Fitness, strength is treated as a long-term resource. The goal is not just to get through hard workouts or chase short-term changes. The goal is to build and maintain the kind of strength, movement quality, and physical capacity that supports your life outside the gym. That can mean moving better, avoiding injury, staying active as you age, and continuing to do the activities you care about for years to come.
Is LaPlant Fitness a good fit for beginners?
Absolutely. You do not need to be an athlete or already in great shape to work with Nick. LaPlant Fitness works well for beginners, experienced lifters, busy professionals, and everyday adults who want expert guidance in a private, supportive environment. The coaching is individualized, so you start where you are and progress from there.
Can Nick help if I want to move better, avoid injury, or work around limitations?
Yes. Many clients come to LaPlant Fitness because they want to get stronger, move better, reduce injury risk, or maintain the ability to stay active in everyday life and recreation. Since the programming is highly personalized, training can be built around your movement quality, training history, and current limitations rather than forcing you into a one-size-fits-all approach.
What is the studio environment like?
Everything about LaPlant Fitness is purpose-built. The studio is quiet, private, clean, and minimalist, with premium curated equipment chosen specifically to support real strength development. The limited client roster helps preserve a calm, focused environment where coaching and progress come first. It is designed for people who value attention, consistency, and a distraction-free place to train.
Is LaPlant Fitness a gym membership or group fitness studio?
No. This is not a gym membership and it is not group fitness. LaPlant Fitness is a private training studio centered on one-on-one coaching, thoughtful programming, and long-term health. It is built for people who want more than access to equipment. They want expert guidance, accountability, and a clear plan.
Can clients train on their own outside of coaching sessions?
Yes. LaPlant Fitness offers exclusive member access outside coaching hours for clients who want a private place to train on their own. That gives clients the benefit of both individualized coaching and access to a focused environment for independent training.
Who is the ideal client for LaPlant Fitness?
LaPlant Fitness is a great fit for people who value coaching, consistency, privacy, and long-term health. Some clients want to get stronger. Others want to move better, avoid injury, improve performance, or stay capable in the activities they love. The common thread is that they want real coaching and a thoughtful process, not random workouts or crowded gym energy.
Do I need to already be fit to start training?
Not at all. Most people I work with aren’t starting at their peak—they’re just ready to begin.
I assess your current fitness level, movement, and goals, then build a program around you. Everything is scaled to where you are, with clear progression over time as you get stronger and more confident.
You don’t need to be in shape to start—you just need to start.
Do you offer coaching for families, teens, or couples?
Yes. While most training is one-on-one, LaPlant Fitness can accommodate couples and select small groups when it makes sense for your goals. Training for teens is also available, with a strong focus on proper technique, confidence, and long-term development. Every session is still personalized, ensuring each person gets the attention and coaching they need.
How do I contact Nick LaPlant?
You can contact Nick directly by email at nick@laplant.fitness or by phone at 415-722-7498. Because the studio is private and appointment-only, direct contact is the best way to learn more about availability and next steps.
